Flower Friday: Welsh Poppy...& an Aurora!

Not having green fingers, we often get more colour in the wilder areas of the garden where at this time of year we're enjoying some Welsh Poppies and Forget-me-Nots. They looked particularly nice in the afternoon sunshine. Thanks as always to BikerBear for hosting.

The good weather which we've finally had for the last few days has lent itself to some long-postponed jobs. So at last I replaced a very dilapidated drainpipe a couple of days ago, and yesterday and today I've had very dirty afternoons(!) - pressure washing the granite setts in our front drive. The pointing between them gets covered by moss and ideally I should clean it away at least every year but I think it's about 5 years since I last did so, hence it took a long time! (Fortunately the tough pointing material readily withstands the force of the water jet.)

PS Exciting! The AuroraWatch promised a very high chance of an aurora tonight so we popped down to the coast (Old Hartley if you're local or know the area). We were treated to quite an impressive show, with St Mary's Lighthouse in the view too - see the extras! (Maybe a few more tomorrow in an album but it's after midnight now.)
