Viaggio

A morning of watching the kids play on their weekend games (Minecraft for AR and Roblox for Mx), explaining their appeal to me whilst they munched on some toast. Mt and I chatted about how games have changed since he was young when the quest was for ever more impressive graphics and ‘almost like film’ visuals, whereas now it’s more about making things yourselves and the graphics/visuals are pretty clunky and basically piles of blocks.
I got changed and checked my packing…bit chaotic and I’m not sure I’ve got the right things but it’s only a week, I’ll be fine with what I’ve got (besides there’s a washing machine!).
Early cloud cleared to a very hot day, but I was indoors and travelling the whole time. First took tube then train to Gatwick, checked in at the airport (and was delighted that leaving it this late meant they put me upfront in the seats that no one else had paid extra for….it wasn’t a busy flight. Spent a couple of hours in the lounge having lunch and relaxing, sorting out some info and plans.
All went really smoothly and it was lovely seeing the old town, towers and Duomo in Florence as we came in to land. Didn’t have to wait long for LE’s flight to arrive from Edinburgh and then we went to get a taxi to the coach station….long queue! We did manage to get to the terminus in time for the slightly delayed coach though, despite feeling ripped off by the taxi. Seems odd there is t a bus to the coach station but hey ho, once on the coach it was all very smooth and quick to Siena. Another short taxi ride (it was by then very dark and nearly 10pm so we didn’t fancy the 20min walk to the apartment). Met G’s nephew who showed us round and gave us the keys. Lovely little place bang in the centre of the old town….very effectively planned with masses of storage cupboards, most of which we needed to go through to find the mugs and glasses! There was plenty of bits and pieces for us to snack on and dishes of lovely chocolates so we relaxed with tea/wine and nibbles and decided to watch a bit of nonsense Eurovision before bed. We mainly researched things we’ll be doing as we relaxed…exciting to be here!
