Grey Heron

There were 5 heron today. Four of them met me at the gate and the little female (pictured) joined the group when we got to the path. The original little one the adult male and Jekyll who is getting bigger (extra) were the ones I recognised. There was a terrible algal bloom covering a large area of the the loch this morning particularly around the  edge where it is shallow. It has literally appeared in one day. The loch tends to suffer from this as there is little water flow near the surface. Hopefully the other side of the loch which is more shaded will not be as bad and the fish stock won't drop and there will be a good supply when the chicks fledge.
Probably because of the bloom the coot was not around. There were 4 crows and a magpie today.
