Nature Diary.. Weigela
After a weekend of beautiful weather, with sunshine throughout every hour of each day, it was a joy to spend both days outside in the garden.
This morning however, it rained. Now we have threatening grey skies, an icy breeze, and newly planted flowers to care for. Hmm.
Today's photo shows how well our Weigela bush has thrived despite the atrocious weather we've had so far for most of this year. Our plan of hanging bird feeders in the bush has proved to be incredibly successful as the feeders are stripped within a couple of weeks, but only by small birds who slip uninjured between the tight-knit slender branches and copious leaves and flowers of the bush. So there are no more voracious pigeons, or threatening Magpies bothering to visit the garden for food anymore and therefore frightening the beautiful tiny birds away. Success!!
