The High St fights back

I was amazed this morning to see all the bunting out in Bridge-of-Allan and thought at first it was in anticipation of Murray winning at Wimbledon.

Not so. The shops are fighting back against the march of the supermarkets
and participating merchants have decorated their premises with bunting.

This is all part of a nationwide project to celebrate independent retailer month throughout July.
.
It is certainly colourful and gives our wee town, which still likes to consider itself a village, quite a French air what with its burgeoning outdoor café culture and boutique shops.

Also this must be one of the few towns in Scotland, if not the UK, which has no empty shops.
