Sea Here

If I was in this picture
I wouldn't want to be on the little train.
I'd want to be the lone figure
gazing out to sea.

This looks like pre-mobile phone days to me
so it wouldn't be possible to contact me.
No texts. No calls. Properly alone.

I'd probably have a hip flask
in my pocket
and every now and again
I'd take a swig of brandy
as I gazed out at the blue sea
and sandy terrain.

By now I'd be feeling pretty mellow
and imagining I was going to find
a shady spot and write my best poem ever.

Then I'd sit in the shade and write it.

I'd allow it to mellow too
and leave it till tomorrow
before I looked at it again.

And then I'd look.

Well fancy that!
It's crap.
