Who Is Kevin McCloud?

Wildwood discussed the British TV series Grand Designs. The programme features houses of ‘Grand Designs’ and the history of how they were designed and constructed.

There is usually many dramatic twists and turns before the project is finished. Budgets may have been blown. Construction timetables may have been stretched, sometimes by many months. However, most times the projects are completed.

Kevin McCloud has narrated the drama of the programmes since the series began many years ago. All in all, interesting entertainment although, I must confess to raised eyebrows as some of the programme unfold and disasters are described.

A look at Wikipedia’s entry about Kevin McCloud is enlightening. He is particularly well informed by his career prior to Grand Designs. I have shown two of his books on the shelves of our library about decorating and painting techniques.

Naturally, we watch Grand Designs. They are informative and a lasting testimony to the scale of ambitions, sometimes not matched by the client’s budgets.
