Sgwarnog: In the Field

Summer

grass sways
to the song
of summer
weight
of a butterfly

This weekend may be the only summer we get, so the pool was inflated and paddling ensued.

The Small Heath butterflies, like this one, seemed at their most active today - walking through the long grass one would emerge every twenty yards or so, each male in its territory. I counted a dozen in our local stretch of moor, along with five Large Skippers and the first Ringlet of the year.

Over at the pond, there were signs of emergence.
