True Stripes

The 13th century Duomo of Orvieto is most notable for it’s sparkly mosaic facade (extra), although I’m captivated by the zebra-esque elements of the building (featured). We rode a little red funicula up a rock cliff to visit the small town of Orvieto perched up on top. This town with Etruscan roots was a perfect pit stop on our way to Fiumicino Airport in Rome. (It is Camille’s last day with us - a big boo hoo for the parentals). We had a few hours to shop (linens!), eat (pasta lunch, cannoli), and visit the magnificent Cathedral (mosaics, art architecture). Sadly, we could not take the subterranean Etruscan tour.
