Dundrennan Abbey & Kipford

It was a glorious day today so we decided to do the walk from Rockcliffe to Kipford. However, en route we stopped off at Dundrennan Abbey which is the most well preserved of all three of the south west Scotland abbeys (the others are Sweetheart and Glenluce). The conservator there was really chatty so we got to know quite a bit about the history of the building. Dundrennan is a Cistercian Abbey which is an offshoot of Rielvaux Abbey in Yorkshire. The walk from Rockcliffe to Kipford was topped of with a brilliant fish platter lunch at the Anchor Inn in Kipford.
