Built by the Co-Op

Carlton Buildings in the centre of Hebden Bridge - built by the Hebden Bridge Co-Operative Society in 1876 as a Co-Op 'department store' with ground floor shops and administration on the upper floors. The Co-op closed in the late 1960s and the shops were sold off to private owners. The upper floors became the Carlton Hotel  with a Ballroom on the top floor. Now all the upper floors are private apartments
