At the Library

We walked to the town Library this morning, to collect books we'd reserved online. For me, The Hunter by Tana French. For Rana, Chai Time at Cinnamon Gardens by Shankari Chandran. On the display shelf we found and borrowed, for 1 week loan, a copy of One Another, a recently published and well-reviewed historic novel about Joseph Conrad by Gail Jones.

Outside the Library a Golden Penda (Xanthostemon chrysanthus) was coming into flower. It's related to gum trees and bottlebrushes, and occurs naturally some 2,000 km north of here. It's a common garden plant in Brisbane. A Giant Grasshopper was feasting on the flowers.
