Bennett Park

Our local Park and Bird Estuary is always a pleasure to visit. Just look at that gorgeous sky!

We started going here originally in 2021 to walk our small dog, Daisy. Sadly, she developed a tumor that was cancerous. We discovered this in April and learned soon afterwards it was inoperable. Not wanting her to suffer, we took her to our vet & stayed with her while she peacefully passed on.

Steve & I knew it would be hard for us to return to this park, so our instinct was to go there soon after she passed. As we walked, we talked about her and all the joy & love she brought into our lives. Daisy was a very special dog and a huge part of our daily life. She was a rescue from a puppy mill (a momma dog). We adopted her soon after her rescue when she was 5 years old (2021). Because of her former life, she was not used to stairs, doorways, tile floors and she was quite timid and scared. But with love & encouragement, she really blossomed and had more confidence. Her sweetness grew the longer she was with us. We don't believe she ever ran around outside until we adopted her. It took her about a year before she did and it was at this park. Daisy looked so very happy when she ran!

It's understandably different for us to go here now. For one thing, Daisy was a bit of a slow poke and was new to being on a leash. She liked to sniff and amble along. Now we walk a mile or two at a brisk pace. Sometimes as we are walking, we say, "C'mon Daisy!" like we used to. We will never forget all she blessed us with and will always love this park, Miss Daisy Mae and all memories of our short time with her. xo

My first blip about her, soon after we adopted her, is here.
