Summer at last!

What a fantastic day of sun and warmth! And with it some of the delayed insects we've been waiting to see at the reserve, like this Burnet Moth. This one is actually the Narrow-bordered Five-spot Burnet, Zygaena lonicerae, a relatively common species on the Chilterns chalk slopes. Numbers may turn out to be low this year...but at least it's back.
