Before The Storm

We were just tucking into our fish on the beach when the lightning flashed and the thunder rumbled.  I took my blip a few minutes earlier when this big black cloud blew into view.  But there was still plenty of blue sky and sunshine around.  Then a few big spots of rain splashed through the straw covering overhead, and everyone on the terrace grabbed their plates and glasses and ran for cover inside.  J said, "It's just a wee bit of rain.  We can always change our clothes afterwards."
The proprietor looked worried and called over, "Peter. Venez dedans!"
But I just shrugged and called back, "On est Écossais."  He laughed.
But in fact the rain really came to nothing and we enjoyed the rest of our meal in peace.  Except for Daftie who tried to bury himself in the sand to escape the thunder.
