The Nixon Conspiracy

Been reading this book by Geoff Shepard.

Discussing the Republican convention coming up in San Diego in 1972 and protestors….plans were hatching:
“…. “protest leaders, kidnap them, and take them across the border, deep into Mexico. By the time they managed to get back into the U.S., the convention would have ended. (If this sounds extreme, consider that in 1962, Attorney General Robert Kennedy had retired general and provocateur Edwin Walker abducted off the University of Mississippi campus and placed in a mental hospital until the Old Miss riots had subsided.) The bugging, of course, would be of Democratic leaders and candidates. The prostitution would take place on houseboats anchored near the Democratic Convention in Miami. The idea was that these lovely ladies would persuade prominent Democrats to disclose campaign plans and compromise themselves in the process. These were not to be low-class hookers. Liddy promised to retain the services only of the highest caliber prostitutes for these trysts. Reportedly, Magruder volunteered to test the women out in advance. As with the Fielding Break-in, Liddy’s plan once again exceeded all expectations, but Mitchell’s only spoken reaction was to say, “That’s not quite what we had in mind.””
