The dark side to Glastonbury

This makes me sad, leaving and seeing the huge piles of rubbish left and the gulls which have flown in from miles around to get the best pickings. For all the banners and adverts for Greenpeace, WaterAid and Oxfam, it is a massively wasteful event. Getting over 100,000 people to travel to a farm in the middle of nowhere by coach, train, car and private helicopter can never be a sustainable activity. I mean all the plates, cups and cutlery is compostable and cans and bottles can be recycled but there is still so much rubbish left. But I don't think it's enough of a reason to stop going for me, it just makes me sad.
