Rain on the East Slope

While the rest of California has a heat wave the normally dry east side of the Sierra Nevada range has been getting wet thunderstorms. The rain usually starts around noon and lasts for several hours. I hiked up to Fern Lake today (the trailhead is off the June Lake scenic loop) just in time for the rain to start. Thankfully the lake is lined with Lodgepole Pines, one of which provided a dry spot where I could wait out the storm.
