Hole in the wall

The hot weather, the ubiquitous smell of sun cream and the fact that we're in a holiday cottage has lent an surreal holiday feel to our current situation. We didn't do the things you normally do on holiday. We took the boy to school. We dealt with a worryingly inexperienced surveyor doing a valuation on the house so we can get the big fat mortgage we need to have it rebuilt. We had some fruitless phone conversations with an insurance broker. And I went into Barnstaple to have a special sight test done to reassure the DVLA that my glaucoma doesn't affect my driving (it should be fine, but it's one more thing to worry about).

Oh, and we watched the front wall of our home get demolished. Definitely not a typical holiday.
