The Wren

"Come on in .....

... the water is lovely". Cara was looking up at Bruce when i took this shot in the early afternoon having realised that the only way i was going to get the dogs comfortable in the 30' heat was to take them to the water for a swim. Bruce quickly joined her and the pair had great fun splashing around in the very shallow river. You can see the debris at the sides of the bank where the water levels usually are.

I usually take the dogs for a long walk along the riverside but today it was absolutely hotching with folk in various states of undress - amazing what happens when the sun comes out - and often with youngsters playing around in the water. I thought it best not to add two very exuberant and wet dogs into such a mix and so i stayed with them guddling around in the shallows. They were quite happy.

Later, while I was taking a break from gardening I noticed movement in the pond and on closer inspection I was enchanted to see that the oxygenating plants were alive with tiny froglets perched on top, presumably exercising their developing lungs much as baby birds flap their wings prior to fledging. Some still had the remnants of their tails while others had fully formed legs.

I hope you were able to stay cool and yet enjoy the fabulous summer's day.
