NuArt
Mrs CBL and I met up with our daughter for coffee in Aberdeen. Afterwards the ladies went shopping and I went blipping.
The new NuArt murals were painted last week in and around the city centre. Over the past seven years Aberdeen has become one of many cities that has used street art displays to brighten up, in the main, buildings in disrepair.
I drove past this one a few days ago and knew right away that it was the one I wanted to photograph first. I thought it was brilliant and one of the best I’ve seen in Aberdeen. It is right beside a busy roundabout and it was from there I would get the best angle on it. Mrs CBL warned me to take great care and promised this would be to only time I would photograph it from there.
I was very careful and chose my moment to cross over to it. The good thing is that as it’s a roundabout the traffic can only come towards you in one direction. I will, however, keep my promise not to venture out there again.
Here’s a little info about the artist.
Italian artist Francesco Camillo Giorgino, known as Millo, paints large-scale murals that feature friendly people exploring their urban setting. He uses simple black and white lines with dashes of colour when necessary and often incorporates elements of architecture into his multi-story paintings.
Millo has over 150 mural artworks scattered across all continents, his works have been exhibited in Los Angeles, Miami, Chicago, Seoul, Dubai, Paris, Rome, Milan and Rio de Janeiro. His works of art are also part of two permanent museum collections in Berlin and in Amsterdam.
Here’s a link to an extra of a wider view, for context, that I took of the mural courtesy of the former gallusboy …
