Not Les Mis?

An interesting trip up to Victor Hugo's house in St Peter Port and this is the view from his study.
It is actually more of a rooftop conservatory and it is where he wrote Les Misérables, I believe!
A very interesting house shown to us by a delightful and enthusiastic young French lady guide.
The lower levels of the house are extremely dark and forboding with very heavy dark wood and carvings everywhere! Dark with electricity so hard to imagine with oil lamps or candles!
As you go up floors it get increasingly light until you come out in Victor's study which gives a panoramic view of the harbour area.
The statue provides a delightful Ladybutton Tuesday pose...bit chilly in winter though, I imagine.
If you are confused check out Lazooligirl Monday blip!
Hope the weather lasts!
