Racing yachts and reflections

We are having a really good week of it. Blip has truly changed our lives! The week started out with our blipmeet with Hrubieszowianka as mentioned yesterday. Then later this week we will be meeting with a blipper from NSW. We now have to find time to do our normal work, let alone our rowing training!

The reason for our trip to the Recycling Depot in the Stirling-Heathfield area was to dump some now defunct old video technology from the studio. Although some of it was 20 years old and several pieces were quite recent, it was all perfectly good and in working order. The original cost of the gear was $40,000 in total so it was a bit heartbreaking to toss it into a big recycling skip, or dumpster as they call it in USA. Such is the march forward of technology!

Then things became a lot more positive for me when we visited the nearby Stirling Linear Park. The park consisted of walking tracks around the Woorabinda Reserve lake, where elderly gentlemen were racing their remote controlled yachts around the marker buoys.

It was quite a beautiful sight. They were using a combination of sail and battery power in their very serious racing. It made for a most interesting blip with fascinating reflections.

Bigger yachts.

The reason for the weird camera settings was my shooting of bird photos in a very dark corner of the lake, moments before I saw this yacht race starting. No time to quickly change the settings to something more sensible!
