Dinner and a movie

Today should have been a lazy day. Yesterday's cloud lingered, and brought a wonderfully cool morning which saw me flinging open windows to get some cool air into the house (then closing them again to keep out the flies escaping from the drizzle...) Soon the day settled into a warm, slightly muggy, overcast kind of day. Some gardening, some work and some sewing. During the latter a phone call asking if TallGirl was around... and didn't perhaps want to pop over to the birthday party she'd been invited to a week ago... Eek.

Quick teamwork ironing, hairbrushing, dressing, hand scrubbing (painting earlier today for TallGirl), re-hairbrushing and running to the party venue (happily just 400 yards away) saw her there only 5 minutes later. Meanwhile, I raced off to the shops to find some suitable gift to take along at pick up time!

With that all dealt with it was time for the long scheduled movie night. For TallGirl's birthday we bought her a bunch of horse movies, and tonight we thought we'd all watch War Horse together. Despite many explanations for CarbBoy of war stuff (he is now less impressed with war than he once was) it was still a very impressive movie. The pizza (home made so extra crispy) was much appreciated, though clearly I'd made the crusts too big for Mr B.

So, a slow sandwich of a day, with a fast jammy bit in the middle.
