Tall Ship at Riverside, Glasgow

This is the tall ship Glenlee, as seen from the upper level of the Riverside Museum, alongside the River Clyde outside of Glasgow.

It is the Glasgow Museum of Transport, now housed in an ultramodern building opened in 2011. It is fascinating, with a large range of exhibits, including more than one would expect from the word "transport". As in all the city's museums it is free, including the ship itself, which was built in 1896 as a Glasgow cargo ship, but was used for years by the Spanish navy as a training ship.

In the morning we visited the Hunterian Gallery of Art. It includes the reconstructed Glasgow house of Rennie Mackintosh; although small, it is exquisite, providing the best experience of his genius (and that of his wife) that we have had during our visit here.

All good things of this sort must come to an end, and tomorrow we leave to fly back to Massachusetts (via Edinburgh and Amsterdam). It has been a marvelous three weeks (mainly Scotland with a few days in Yorkshire), with all sorts of varied experiences (starting here on blip, if you've missed any of it :)
