Gary Player is one of South Africa’s most famous sportsmen.  Today he played a round of golf at Cruden Bay and I was out on the course taking photos for the club.  Later in the day he held a golf clinic for the club’s junior members.

Gary has had a remarkable career spanning seventy years.  It was in the 1970s and early 1980s that he was one of the top three golfers in the world alongside Arnold Palmer and Jack Nicklaus.

He won nine major golf championships and is ranked 4th equal for the number of titles won. He is a three times winner of The Open Championship, won The Masters at Augusta on three occasions and has two USPGA titles and one victory in the US Open Championships to his name.  Most golf magazines rate him as one of the ten greatest golfers of all time.
