Plumbing

A beautiful summers day, ever so hot and sunny. I really want to be outdoors walking and enjoying the weather and taking photos, but first I have to spend the morning in a 3-hour meeting. Just as the meeting is coming to a close, a hurried phonecall from home: water pouring through kitchen ceiling light-fittings. Something is wrong in the bathroom, it would seem...

And so commences a job that consumes the entire afternoon, and some of the next day too: finding the leak; ripping out the Fort-Knox-style boxing that the person who fitted our bathroom put around the offending pipework; visiting various places to get various spare parts; then buying a new wrench and spanner (who did I lend the old ones to?) and fixing it. Turns out a flexible hose, possibly softened by the heat, had failed.

As had my plan to get outdoors.
