At Scarborough: Hope....x

A hot day, a wonderful idea at a party. Free ice creams all round!

Famed for serving some of the best ice cream in the country, Giulian Alonzi's Harbour Bar and little ice cream van is almost unaltered since opening in 1945.

This is the mobile ice cream van version is as authentic as their ice cream bar on Scarborough sea front .The Times describe their ice cream bar as, "a sunburst of yellow and white, a banana split recreated in Formica" the walls are lined with mirrors and slogans 'Get your vitamins the easy way', 'Eat ice cream every day.'" Patrons sit on red leather banquettes or on high stools at the half-moon, chrome-edged counter. Ice creams are mainly traditional - vanilla, chocolate, strawberry, banana, and lemon and blackcurrant sorbets - made from natural ingredients including Scottish seaweed instead of gelatine. The Alonzi's settled in Scarborough in 1896 and the old milk bar is thriving.

Tilly the dog hoping, so hoping for a lick, just a taste.....x (yes, she did get served) x
