Sally Lunn Kiwi Style

A bit different to the ones we sampled in the Uk in Bath 4 years ago. The kiwi version is very sweet with raisins and currants and has pink/white icing and sometimes coconut. The Bath Buns we ate at at 'Sally Lunn's' are quite different. They are rich, light and similar to brioche. You can have them with sweet or savoury accompaniments and they are delicious. We really enjoyed our Sally Lunn experience at the quaint, historic teahouse.

Today Stu brought home the kiwi version. Bailee unsurprisingly couldn't think of anything else from the moment she first set eyes on it. I was quite shocked at how much I enjoyed it. They taste better than I remember!

Today was a special day for Oscar as he spent the day with Granny and Grandad in Welcome Bay. I dropped him off in the morning and he had a whale of a time. When I drove back to Papamoa with Maple, he was not in the least bit bothered and had the happiest smile. They had a lovely day, riding on a train at Memorial Park, playing at the playground, lunch (and treats) out and playing at their home. Stu and his parents went with Bailee to Tauranga for lunch and to the park on the Strand. Maple and I chilled with coffee and sushi in Papamoa and then we all reunited in the afternoon.
