View from Bannockburn(ish)

I took a walk up to the borestone this afternoon - it's allegedly the spot where Robert the Bruce set his standard there against the English at the Battle of Bannockburn. However that story only really emerged in the 18th century, and no other battle artefacts have ever been found, so it's likely to have taken place somewhere else entirely. They are currently rebuilding the Bannockburn Heritage Centre, the old one has been knocked down and the staute of Robert the Bruce is currently covered in blue plastic (presumably to protect him against dust from the building work). Next year is the 700th anniversary of the battle, so I expect we will be hearing an awful lot about Bannockburn then.

The views round about though are still pretty spectacular. This is looking away from the statue and heritage centre site towards the west. The farmers have obviously been busy here too!
