SADHYA

For all you spider lovers out there

The nursery web spider (Pisaurina mira)
I know, a lot of people will not like this post. I find spiders fascinating. There are loads of these Nursery web spiders in my garden, all with broods of around a hundred tiny spiders. It is a jolly good job I don't mind them, otherwise I would never go out into the garden.
This nursery is on an Echinops.

The nursery web spider (Pisaurina mira) is called so because the female makes a silken nursery web for its young and guards over it; she will not leave her egg sac until all the spiderlings have hatched and dispersed.
