Nutmeg ( au naturel )

Day 3 of our holiday in Penang and only 2 more Malaysian blip days left till me make the long journey home.
This morning we went on a tour of the island - we were so lucky that we were the only couple going so got a lovely comfortable car and a guide to ourselves. He showed us the parts away from the beaches and hotels where the local farmers grow a large variety of fruits and spices. This blip was taken at a roadside stall and our driver/ guide was keen to tell us all about the local produce. Now I know what a durian tree looks like laden with fruit. Here he is holding a nutmeg - it looks a bit like our chestnuts the way it splits open.
We learned a lot from our 67 year old guide who was a local man and knew so much about the flora and fauna of the island as well as the customs of the various ethnic groups that make up this fascinating country.
