Common Darter
Walking across the golf course today in the warm sunshine when I spotted a Common Darter. It was lying on top of one of the walls of the well at the side of fairway. It was angled towards the sun
Common Darters are one of the most common dragonflies in the UK. They are so called because they dart forwards suddenly from a hovering position to catch insects/prey. Alas I didn’t see it in action.
Best viewed large to see the shadows of the wings.
