Granville

We came back to Granville as we wanted to spend a bit of time walking around the tight little streets and admiring the see views and marina area which were beautiful.

There is an aire for motorhomes at the top of the rock which is where the old military barracks were and where this picture was taken.

It's not the most stunning picture and to be honest I have ones of blue sky and chrystal waters etc. etc. but this sums up the way the cobbled streets undulated and meandered round the end of the pont.

If you have a vehicle that is any wider than your standard saloon forget heading up here as it can only end in shoulder shrugging, jesticulation and, ultimately, tears.

You can walk or drive back down to the harbour and marina area where I saw the only skate shop in my French travels. Actually it was a cycle shop that also sold a few bits and bobs - a couple of Sector 9 longies and some Jart (Spanish) and Death (English) decks.

The French prices were about on the money for UK prices whereas lets face it everything else except bread and wine is expensive.

Include fuel in that - it was more expensive for unleaded petrol in France than the UK last week.

Everything else is more expensive. The French must love UK prices and think stuff in the USA is virtually free!!

We had plans for a second back-up stage of the tour for today if Tuesday's mission failed but after some consideration we decided not to do it - Tuesday was so brilliant it could never live up to that for various reasons relating to the stage, running times and locations we had scoped out etc.

Last whole day in France tomorrow.
