Mummy, I'm Hungry

Kittiwake chick (Rissa tridactyla) and parent.

I went on a bus tour of the Scottish Borders today and on the way back we had an hour in Dunbar. Brilliant. I knew of the kittiwakes nesting at the harbour entrance - and I hoped it was still the right time of year before fledging - it was.

In fact the fishermen said they were about a fortnight behind normal development,. One also said that the wildlife ranger had told him that after harsh winter conditions, numbers were down - just 76% of normal.

I have put another one on Flickr.
