Blackbird
A dead minke whale had been washed up at high tide and left high and dry on Cruden Bay beach. I very much doubt it will be taken out again on the next high tide or any high tide and so will be stranded there.
A similar sized whale was beached at Lossiemouth in early July and the decision taken by Moray Council was to leave the whale in its current location and “let nature or the tide take its course”.
As the whale is under 25 feet in length the responsibility of disposal lies with Aberdeenshire Council. It is likely it will follow suit and do as Moray Council did and let nature take her course.
Minke whales are members of the baleen or “great” whale family, they are the smallest and most numerous of this group.
No photos of the whale taken but I did like this female blackbird which was passing the time of day standing on a wall. Each to their own!
