When the going gets weird

Take me out to the ball game

First day in Boston proper. There was no real plan at this stage. It gets a bit head spinning to be forever moving on to a new City. We caught the T into the city center and mooched about a bit. I tanned a Slurpee almost immediately, it was shaping up to be another roasting day.

Without definite purpose we found ourselves drifting towards the harbour area, watching tall ships and water taxis cutting back and forth. We ducked into Dirty Dicks, a theme bar whose gimmic is the staff being rude to you. Their hearts weren't really in it though and mildly surly was the best they could manage.

That evening we had tickets for the Boston Red Sox Baseball game at Fenway park. It was my first baseball game and I can only hope it wont be my last. It was an amazing experience, even when you don't know the rules properly. The match was tied at the end of the 9th, when Jonny Gomes came out to the strains of Dropkick Murphies and smacked a homer straight off the big green monster for the victory. Very exciting.
