Symbols of A Coruna

Just back from a day in A Coruna, a big, fast, fearsome city hanging on to the very edge of northern Spain. This coat of arms sums up many of the city's legends and heritage: Hercules battles with the giant Geyron, whose head is buried under the lighthouse, now known as the tower of Hercules. Later, Santiago pilgrims, symbolised by the scallop shells, come ashore here.
