the old and the not so old

Holiday - day 5

Today's walk was south along the coast from camp to Torness power station (and back). The power station is a giant pale blue block sitting on a narrow bit of land between the A1 and the sea. The pier is protected by thousands of concrete blocks which look a bit like 2 corkscrew handles fitted together at 180°. Each block is numbered.

Although not the best photo of the day I like this shot as a) it was our destination and b) it shows the old lime kilns at Skateraw not far from the much newer power station. Interestingly alongside the path between the two are some solar panels mounted on a frame.

There was a stonechat family sitting on the fence close to Barns Ness - youngster who was on a fence post, mum on the wire nearby and dad who kept flying off and coming back to the wire.
