Sunrise on Clifton Cliffs

The light was stunning this morning, and the just-risen sun turned Clifton Cliffs a vibrant gold. The Southern Alps were lit up too, and you can see them at the very far end of the image. All the houses that are in view, along the very top edge of the cliffs, have to be demolished, because of earthquake damage. There are quite a few that are just out of the picture, on the closest cliff edge. A very few are hanging right over the edge, and all of them are about 30m closer to the edge than they used to be. There are enormous piles of rocks at the bottom of the cliffs. Yes, my home is up on the hill to the left, but it's a long way back from the edge.

Another walk! This time I was down there first thing, walking the beach again, just like I used to a year ago. Yay!

I'm going away this weekend to Mt. Somers, with the Nature Photographic Society, so there mightn't be any blipping until late Sunday.
