My nepenthes both have offshoots at the base, I cut the vine off the bigger one because it was looking ropey and the bananas it grew were dropping imitation beard hairs all over the bathroom, and I've only just trained Jim not to do that.

I like the pitchers of new vines, they are different from the pitchers of grown up plants. They have these funny hairy bits, for instance.
