White Admiral

Another busy day at home and no chances for wildlife photography so once it got to 5pm I was getting very twitchy. I allowed myself an hour's walk in one of our local woods. Clouds were finally cutting out the sun for significant periods, but it was still very warm. It didn't take long to spot some White Admirals gliding and flapping along the dappled ride edges. They were very reluctant to perch for more that a few seconds so I got lots of terrible shots. This was one of the few reasonable ones. In the end I counted 7 White Admirals, 1 Red Admiral, 5 Silver-washed Fritillaries, around 25 Commas and 1 Purple Hairstreak, as well as all the commoner species - exciting stuff!
