"All the fools in Buxton"

This is part of a quote from John Ruskin the famous Victorian who was of the opinion that it was not worth spoiling the valley of the Wye by building the Monsal Dale viaduct, on which I'm standing, so that all the fools in Buxton could be in Bakewell quicker than by any other means.
That notwithstanding, the viaduct does give superb views down into the valley and is part of an excellent cycle / walking route through some of the best scenery in Derbyshire.
