Cruising Around Bezdez Castle

Another view of the ruins of Bezdez castle while on a fun flight from Sazena (LKSZ) to the ex-Soviet Hradcany air base, which is currently abandoned and not managed by the Czech civil aviation authority.

At Hradcany were a lot of inline skaters skating around on the excellent long runway and taxiways, there were some cars and motorcycles racing on part of the runway, and people generally strolling around and enjoying the nice day and the fine long concrete surfaces there.

We did a low pass over the airport and then called out our intentions to land on the designated channel for the area; while on approach we made sure that all the various people, cars, and motorcycles cleared off before we made a touchdown, which was very interesting to say the least. After landing we then made an immediate takeoff.

There was another aircraft in the circuit as well while we were there, but after we took off and announced our intention to leave the area, we did not hear from them anymore, so I don't know if they landed as well or not.

It was a nice flight there and back; this time I flew with my friend Al Waning in a little Cessna 150 trainer.

Tomorrow back to flight school and cross country exercises; maybe I will be ready for my cross country test before my solo.
