Shimmering Heat

Incredibly hot and humid this afternoon with a shimmering heat haze rising up off the Solent. Having forgotten to wear sunglasses this is the view I had of the yachts as seen through squinting eyes.

I drag exposed the camera to give the blurred effect then softened and de-saturated most of the resulting image except for some saturation of the blue sail and adjustments to the white balance.
I hope this gives some impression of a hot afternoon on the water.

The forecasters have given out warnings of local heavy thunderstorms overnight and throughout tomorrow, it certainly feels as though we are building up to something spectacular.
