Girl Power!!!

Today on our family vacation, Nikki & Ned opened the sealed envelope that held the secret answer of what gender their baby is. Nikki is five months pregnant with their first child (my third grandchild) and, bless their hearts, they managed to keep it a secret for four long days. They had this amazing plan to have the ultrasound technician write it down but not tell them. That way they could announce it to both sides of their respective families later that week when we would all be together for our family vacation.

They did it! I had no faith that either could wait to find out, but they did. The envelope was sealed with each of their signatures...adorable. These two are one of the cutest couples I've ever known. They have an emotional connection that is rare.

The buildup was huge - we were all so excited to find out. Ned's sister has two sweet kids, Mary and Drew. Mary had her finger nails painted pink and blue (every other one), but she was clearly rooting for a girl cousin. She got her wish and this is the accidental shot I got of Mary's excitement. Her blond hair and hands in the air, while she jumped for joy, is what my camera focused on.

I'm so glad that it did.
