An Hour with "The Four"

My first visit to Glasgow Museums Resource Centre, for a private viewing of selected work by "The Four" - Charles Rennie Mackintosh, Frances and Margaret Macdonald and James Herbert McNair.

As no photographs were allowed during this visit, a quick shot of the exterior of the building. Highlights for me were Frances Macdonald's "The Sleeping Princess", her only known pastel drawing, inspired by a Tennyson poem; and the images of the Four Seasons by the two sisters. The decorated metal frames are as important as encased work. Much anticipation as each drawer was opened to view these wonderful works. We also saw posters, watercolours and furniture.

This evening we've enjoyed Brazilian food, played Uno, watched a DVD of Charlie Chaplain in "The Tramp" and seen the new baby prince leave hospital, and go off to Kensington Palace. Despite getting caught in a thundery downpour, it's been a good day.
