Firm Friends

Our only grandchild has been visiting us from Wellington. Emily is 10 and very fond of animals. She adores Fergus the dog and he stares soulfully into her eyes as she spends ages stroking his head and ears.
The love of cats runs in our family and Emily is no exception. She has her own Birman kitten at home and spent time here checking up on our Birman, Amelia Jane.
But alas Emily is not a favourite with Molly the Maine Coon. Molly was frightened of Emily despite careful approaches to her. I can only guess that Molly has been chased and or harassed by children in recent times. She did have a bad habit of going off out of our garden and lively children live nearby. So she gave Emily a wide berth, even hiding from her. It was such a shame as Emily is a gentle little girl.
Now Morris is a different story. He allowed Emily to pick him up at any time, smooched around her, rolled over to have his fluffy tummy tickled and purred quietly in her ear. It was amusing to watch Emily trying to pick Morris up. She is not a big child for 10 and he is a very big cat for little kid to lug around. But he did not mind in the least as can be seen in today's blip. Now she has gone home Morris is mooching around looking for his favourite small person.....
