Out the Window

We got out and about a little today. We went for a walk down to the river. Still tired but getting more energy by the day. I got a nice picture of a Hoopie for the big list of birds but found out when I got back this afternoon that it's already on the list so I settled on this picture.

They are building a new railway line about 100 meters away across the train lines.. There is machinery going 24 hours a day. I'm used to it but it's not helping Ts sleep pattern.

Earlier, they dug big holes and laid down deep columns for the foundations and now they are cleaning away all the crap from the top so they can build the supports for the train line.

You need to look at this in large to get the detail but on the top left, you can see where they have cleaned away some of the excess cement and have exposed the steel that goes down into the the column underground. The guy on the top left, is using a jackhammer to get through. The guy in the middle of the picture is using a sledgehammer to do the same thing. The guys on the top right are taking a break.

This is all happening inside a 45 x 25 meter pit that is surrounded by steel girders which have been driven into the ground. From what I could see, no one was wearing any ear protection. The safety guy must have been paid off.
