A tiny ball of prickles

With a twitching snout,
A tiny ball of prickles
Snuffles in the grass.

Cute beyond cute - this baby hedgehog has been wandering about amongst the weeds all day (in an area previously known as the vegetable garden).

I'm not sure what he/she was doing out in the heat of the day ... we put out water and dog food, but he wasn't interested. He just bumbled around happily all day. I saw an adult hedgehog a couple of weeks ago, so I'm guessing we have a family. How lucky are we?
